The Community Kitchen began as a free food and meal kitchen during the earliest days of Hurricane response. Fueled entirely by donations and the heart of volunteers, we have served thousands of free meals to community members and volunteers since then. Ran by local chefs and veteran restauranteurs, the Kitchen has evolved into into a gathering space for neighbors and friends to come together over a hot meal, while continuing to provide free meals to volunteers and those in need.
For small towns & closeknit communities, third spaces are the hearts of our community. As our Downtown rebuilds, the Community Kitchen provides a come-as-you-are space for our community members are welcome to gather, connect and heal. To us, food is a powerful vessel for an important goal: community building, togetherness and hope.
